Jon Hamilton

Jon Hamilton has been a science correspondent for NPR since 1998. He covers neuroscience, health risks, behavior and bioterrorism.

He graduated with honors from Oberlin College with a degree in English. As a student, he edited the Oberlin Review. He went on to earn a Master's Degree in journalism, also with honors, from Columbia University.

Before joining NPR, Hamilton studied health policy issues as a media fellow at the Henry J. Kaiser Family Foundation and completed a project on state Medicaid programs and privatization.

Hamilton was a freelance writer from 1995-1997 prior to which he was a medical reporter for The Commerical Appeal and Physicians' Weekly.

Hamilton has won a Baker Prize for magazine writing and a Sherwood Traveling Fellowship.
