John Carver

Signing of the Mayflower Compact

John Carver, born c.1576, in either Nottinghamshire or Derbyshire, England and died on April 15, 1621 in what became Plymouth, Massachusetts, United States, was the first governor of Plymouth Colony.

Carver was one of the Pilgrims who came over in the Mayflower, and was chosen governor soon after landing. He helped settle people in their new homes, but died within four months (April 1621).
