Joginder Jaswant Singh

General Joginder Jaswant Singh is the chief of army staff of India.

He was named as the next (22nd) chief of the army staff of India on November 27, 2004. He succeeded General N C Vij and became the 1st Sikh to lead the Indian Army and the 11th chief of army staff from the Western Command. His selection was not a surprise as he is the seniormost officer and thus a natural choice.
