Joe Andruzzi

Joe Andruzzi (born August 23, 1975 in Brooklyn, New York) is an American football player.

Andruzzi was originally signed as a rookie free agent by the Green Bay Packers out of Southern Connecticut State University in 1997 and spent that entire year on the Packers' roster. Prior to the 1998 season, Andruzzi was allocated to NFL Europe by the Packers and played for the Scottish Claymores, earning All-NFL Europe honors in the process. During the NFL season that year, Andruzzi was on the Packers roster and played extensively on special teams all year. In 1999, Andruzzi started three games for the Packers and was eventually placed on injured reserve with a knee injury that required surgery. In 2000, Andruzzi signed as a free agent with the New England Patriots, and by 2001 was a full-time starter for New England. Despite the Patriots' attempts to replace Andruzzi with other players in the starting lineup, the veteran guard successfully held onto his job in training camp battles through 2004.

In March of 2005, Andruzzi became a free agent, and signed with the Cleveland Browns, whose new coach, Romeo Crennel, had been New England's defensive coordinator.

Andruzzi has three brothers — Marc, James and William — who are all New York City firefighters, and participated in extinguishing the fires caused by the September 11, 2001 attacks.

Andruzzi resides on Staten Island, and has a significant following in that borough of New York City despite having played for a division rival of the New York Jets while at New England.
