Jiu Valley
The Jiu Valley is the a region of South-Western Romania, in Hunedoara county where the Jiu river is flowing. The region is known for its coal mines, most of which were closed down lately.
This is the place where the post-1989 great miners revolts started (the Mineriads), lead by Miron Cosma, who marched down to Bucharest and instigated violence.
