Jim'll Fix It

Jim'll Fix It was a long running British children's television show broadcast by the BBC.

The show debuted on 31 May 1975, and ran until June 1994. It was hosted by Jimmy Savile who would "fix it" for several children's wishes to come true each week. The standard format was that the child's letter, which described their wish, would be shown on the screen and read out aloud by the child. This would be followed with a quick chat between Jimmy and the child, where they would discuss the wish. The child's wish would then be enacted (either live in the studio or shown in a pre-recorded format, which usually consisted of an outside broadcast), and finally the child would be presented with a medal which had the words "Jim fixed it for me" engraved on it. Arguably the most famous "Fixit" was a group of cub scouts who wanted to have a meal while riding a rollercoaster – the result, thanks to the force of gravity and momentum, being faces full of food and drink.

Later series saw Jim distributing medals from his "magic chair" which concealed the medals in a variety of robotic compartments.

The series is known for its iconic theme tune:

"Your letter, was only the start of it,
One letter, and now you're a part of it.
Now you've done it – Jim has fixed it for you,
And you and you..."
