Jester Dormitory

Jester Dormitory

Jester Dormitory is a coed student dormitory on the University of Texas at Austin campus. Built in 1969 on the corner of 21st Street and Speedway, Jester was named after former Texas Governor Beauford H. Jester. Jester Center consists of two towers, Jester East and Jester West. In order to accomodate the 3,000 residents that live in the dormitory, Jester contains two different dining facilities and a convenience store. The dormitory also houses several offices for tutoring and a lecture hall.

Rooms

The typical Jester room houses two students. Accommodations include a built-in bed and desk, sink, microfridge, and a closet. Each room in Jester is wired with a phone line and high speed T3 connection. Most rooms in Jester have to use a community bathroom for toilets and showers, but there are a few exceptions. A limited amount of suites are available in which two rooms share a connecting bathroom. Laundry rooms and study lounges are also available on each floor for students to use. Among students, it is said that Jester East is the cleaner of the two towers.
