Jef Vanderveken
Jef Vanderveken was, no doubt, the greatest copy painter of the 20th century. Belgian, he had mastered the art of reproducing the works of one of the finest painters ever, Jan van Eyck. He had also created with the funds of his banker mécène, the famous Renders collection which Göring bought in 1941 for 300 kgs of gold (circa 2 million Euros 2003). They had bought with the years a collection of old paintings in very bad shape which JF "remastered" to perfection which can now be seen in Brussel's museum of painting (I believe) and anyway in an expo in Brugges entitled "True or False"(if it is still on.
