James A. Wynn, Jr.
James Andrew Wynn, Jr. is an American judge, currently an Associate Justice on the North Carolina Court of Appeals.
Born in Robersonville, North Carolina, Wynn attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, earning a degree in journalism in 1975. He earned his law degree from Marquette University Law School in 1979, and served in the United States Navy JAG Corps until 1983.
After working briefly in the appellate courts of North Carolina, Wynn entered private practice until he was named to the North Carolina Court of Appeals in 1990; he has served on that court continuously since then, except for a brief appointment to the North Carolina Supreme Court in 1998. He is married and has three children.
In the 2004 statewide judicial elections., Wynn sought election to the North Carolina Supreme Court in a special race brought about by the resignation of Judge Robert Orr. In an eight-way contest, Wynn, endorsed by the North Carolina Democratic Party, placed second, with 20% of the popular vote, edged out for the seat by Paul M. Newby
