James Lindsay Almond, Jr. (June 15, 1898 – April 15, 1986) was a Governor of Virginia.

Almond was born in Charlottesville, Virginia.
After serving in World War I, he became the principal of a high school.
He was a state court judge between 1933 and 1945
Later served in the House of Representatives.
He resigned in 1948, having been elected Virginia's attorney general.
In 1957, he was elected the governor, and took office in January, 1958.
Succeeded Governor Thomas B. Stanley.
Major accomplishment as Governor was ending massive resistance, contrary to wishes of other high-profile southern politicians, such as Senator Harry F. Byrd and Arkansas Governor Orval Faubus.
served until 1962, when his term expired.
