James Lindsay Almond Jr.

James Lindsay Almond, Jr. (June 15, 1898 – April 15, 1986) was a Governor of Virginia.
- Almond was born in Charlottesville, Virginia.
- After serving in World War I, he became the principal of a high school.
- He was a state court judge between 1933 and 1945
- Later served in the House of Representatives.
- He resigned in 1948, having been elected Virginia's attorney general.
- In 1957, he was elected the governor, and took office in January, 1958.
- Succeeded Governor Thomas B. Stanley.
- Major accomplishment as Governor was ending massive resistance, contrary to wishes of other high-profile southern politicians, such as Senator Harry F. Byrd and Arkansas Governor Orval Faubus.
- served until 1962, when his term expired.
