Izumi Maki

Izumi Maki (真木イズミ) is the third Aestivalis pilot who serves aboard the Nadesico with Ryoko Subaru and Hikaru Amano. Her Custom Zero-G Frame is blue. At first glance she has the appearance of a Goth-girl, with long dark hair, pale skin and far-away look in her eyes. She is attractive, in a scary way.

She is also an incurable punster, making jokes every other sentence that are not limited to any particular region, ethnicity, or timeline. She is a terrible singer and plays a ukulele with a moderate success.

Izumi is not a fan of war, though she is a talented pilot. She thinks that she is doing the right thing by fighting, but like everyone else she would give it up if she could. Having lost two boyfriends in her life, one to disease and one to a mechanical accident, she is one of the few women aboard the ship not interested in Akito Tenkawa.

However, she is most likely to tease her friend Ryoko about having a crush on said young man.
