Alexander Mundy, a smooth, sophisticated playboy and super-burglar has been caught by the SIA (an intelligence agency). He makes a deal with them to stay out of jail by working for the SIA and performs sophisticated heists which take place in exotic locales. Mundy's father, played by Fred Astaire and himself a super-burglar, makes the following statement at the beginning of each episode: "I've heard of stealing FROM the government but not FOR the government.".
