Ion I.C. Brătianu

Ion I. C. Brătianu (20 August 186424 November 1927) was the Prime Minister of Romania for five terms, including during World War I, when Romania achieved unification with Transylvania and Bessarabia. He was the son of the Romanian statesman Ion Brătianu and a leader of the Romanian Liberal Party.

Brătianu participated at the Paris Peace conference, where he was a great supporter of the Greater Romania, the union of the Old Romanian Kingdom with Transylvania. Although successful in the negotiations for Transylvania, he resigned in 1919 since he wouldn't accept a compromise on the disputed teritories inhabited by Romanians that were part of Yugoslavia.

He became once again Prime Minister from 1922 to 1926 and he adopted the liberal constitution of 1923 and began a national agrarian reform.
