Invaders (comics)

The Invaders was a superhero team set in World War II in the Marvel Comics universe, created in 1975 by Roy Thomas, and comprising existing characters from the Golden Age of Comic Books. They first appeared in Giant Size Invaders #1.

The original line up comprised:

• Captain America
• Bucky
• Human Torch
• Toro
• Namor the Sub-Mariner

Later additions included:

• Union Jack
• Union Jack II
• Spitfire
• Miss America
• Whizzer

Honorary members were:

• Blazing Skull
• Silver Scorpion

After the war, the Invaders became the All-Winners Squad (a team which Marvel had published in 1949), and when that team dissolved several members joined Citizen V's V Battalion.

A new Invaders team was created in 2004, first appearing in the Avengers, before gaining their own title, called New Invaders, as a sort of superhero SAS. Its membership is:

• USAgent
• Jim Hammond (formerly the Human Torch)
• Tara (a female Torch)
• Namor
• Union Jack III
• Spitfire
• Blazing Skull
• The Thin Man
