Vulcan IDIC

Vulcan Idic Symbol

In the fictional Star Trek universe, the Vulcan Idic is an ornamental piece of jewelry in the form of a pendant on a chain or pinned to a vestment.

The IDIC symbol is a circle and triangle of white and yellow gold metals resting upon each other, and adorned with a white jewel in the center. The name IDIC is an acronym for "Infinite Diversity in Infinite Combinations", representing the cornerstone philosophy of the Vulcan people.

Mr. Spock, the First Officer of the starship Enterprise, wore the symbol during important gatherings and ceremonies as part of his dress uniform. It appeared for the first time in the Star Trek: The Original Series episode, "Is There in Truth No Beauty?".

The IDIC was designed by Star Trek creator, Gene Roddenberry.
