Ill Met by Moonlight
Ill Met by Moonlight (1957) is a film by the British writer-director-producer team of Powell & Pressburger under the banner of The Archers, based on the novel by W. Stanley Moss.
Story
Based on a real event.
During WWII the Mediterranean island of Crete was occupied by the Nazis. A group of British Officers led by Maj. Patrick Leigh Fermor (Dirk Bogarde) landed on the island and, with the help of local partisans and kidnapped the Nazi Maj. Gen. Karl Kreipe (Marius Goring).
That was the relatively easy bit. They then had to get him to a secluded cove on the far side of the island where they could be picked up and taken back to Cairo.
