Ibrahim Kaypakkaya
Ibrahim Kaypakkaya was a leader of the Turkish communist movement.
He led the split away from the neighboring Soviet Union's ideology and took up Maoism and the Cultural Revolution. As such, Kaypakkaya led a life that was a concrete manifestation of the Sino-Soviet split.
Ibrahim Kaypakkaya also took the position that there is a national question involved with the Kurdish people.
Prison wardens tortured Ibrahim Kaypakkaya to death at Diyarbakır in May, 1973 at age 24, but not before he founded the Turkish Communist Party Marxist-Leninist on April 24 1972. Today there are several thousands of Turkish people actively organized in various organizations supporting his legacy of armed struggle.
