Hydantoin
Hydantoins are drugs that can be used as anticonvulsants.
As they have a slow onset of action, they are not recommended for acute control of epilepsy.
The following are hydentoins:
- ethotoin
- phenytoin
- mephenytoin
- fosphenytoin
Dantrolene is chemically a hydantoin but exhibits no antiepileptic activity.
