Hubert Doggart

George Hubert Graham Doggart, M.A. was born on 18 July 1925 in Earl's Court, London.

He was the son of the sportsman Graham Doggart (1897-1963) who rose to chair the Football Association and play county cricket for Middlesex. He was an excellent scholar and all-round sportsman. He was educated at Winchester College and King's College, Cambridge. He was a Cambridge blue in five different sports and captain in four. He earned a Master of Arts degree. He taught at Winchester (1950-1972) and was Headmaster at King's School, Bruton (1972-1985). He was a successful amateur cricketer as G.H.G.Doggart for Cambridge University and Sussex. He represented England in two test matches in 1950. He married Susan Beattie in 1960 and they had three children. He has held many offices in sports administration, such as President of the MCC and the Cricket Society.
