Hu Gadarn Hysicion

According to legend, Hu Gadarn (Hu the Mighty), alternately known as Hysicion in Welsh tradition, led the first colony of Cymry (Welsh) into Britain. This is thought to have occurred around 1800 B.C. Part of the Welsh Triads say, "First was the race of the Cymry, who came with Hu Gadarn to Yns Prydain." Hu came from the "land of summer," which is thought to be from the area of modern day Turkey.

Hu is said to be the originator of the early historical records known as the Welsh Triads, and that he invented the writing method of Ogham script placed on sticks. He is regarded as the personification of intelligence and culture. As a peacemaker he stands paramount.
