Homestar Runner, usually just called Homestar, is the star of his eponymous cartoon series, Homestar Runner. Homestar's stardom is largely in name only, as the villain Strong Bad has proven to be the most popular character of the series.
Homestar combines the intelligence and lovability of Ted Baxter with the good luck of James Bond and the physical beauty of Don Rickles. He is amicable and has nothing but love for the rest of mankind, although he is usually unable to grasp the silliness of his actions, like pouring soda onto a computer keyboard. His lack of visible hands and arms in no way handicaps him, since he is somehow able to levitate and manipulate things anyway.
Homestar is the star athlete on an unspecified sports team led by Coach Z. He has an on-again, off-again girlfriend named Marzipan, who is similarly armless. His best friend remains Pom Pom. He has some speech impediments; as he says, he has "twouble with his aw's." He also likes to borrow things from (and return things to) Strong Bad, particularly without the latter's knowledge.
Although he is often the target of pranks by Strong Bad, Homestar believes that he is friends with Strong Bad and tries to win his favor, often with bad results which Homestar completely misunderstands. As a whole, Homestar seems to be too dim to realize when people are being mean to him, or when he's being mean to other people. He often unintentionally insults his friends or steps on their feelings and is unable to understand their resulting feelings of anger.

Alternate versions
1936 – The Homestar Runner
The Homestar Runner is a past version of the modern Homestar Runner. His best friend is "Fat Dudley" (the 1936 equivalent of Pom Pom), and his girlfriend is 1936's Marzipan. He is somewhat more intelligent than today's version. The Homestar Runner's primary interest is in finding something to eat during the Great Depression.
20X6 – 1-up
1-Up has much more elaborate shoes than his present-day counterpart, and appears to look up to Strong Bad's doppleganger Stinkoman. His appearances have been limited, so little is known about him.
