Helen Shapiro

Helen Shapiro (born September 28, 1946) is a British singer.

Helen Shapiro was born in Bethnal Green, London. In 1961, at the age of only fourteen, she had two #1 hits in the UK: "You Don't Know" and "Walking Back to Happiness". Her mature voice made her an overnight sensation. By the time she was in her late teens, her career as a pop singer was on the wane. However, she re-invented herself as a performer in stage musicals, a jazz singer, and most recently a gospel singer; she continues to perform. Her autobiography, published in 1993, was entitled Walking Back to Happiness.
