Helen Chenoweth-Hage
Helen Chenoweth-Hage (born January 27, 1938) is a Republican politician from the state of Idaho
Chenoweth-Hage was born in Topeka, Kansas and attended Whitworth College. She was elected to the House of Representatives in 1994 from the Idaho 1st District pledging to limit herself to three terms, defeating Democratic incumbent Larry LaRocco.
As a member of the House Chenoweth was known for her extremely conservative views. She insisted on being addressed as "Congressman Chenoweth." She was referred to by critics as a "poster-child for the militias". While in Congress, she claimed that federal agents were using Black helicopters to enforce the Endangered Species Act. Chenoweth was a critic of President Clinton during the Lewinsky scandal, although she admitted that she had an affair with a married man in the 1980s. She claimed that her case was different than the Clinton/Lewinsky case since she was divorced and a private citizen at the time.
Chenoweth served in Congress until 2001. She declared that term limits were bad policy but nonetheless kept her pledge. She was succeeded by fellow Republican C.L. "Butch" Otter.
Chenoweth married rancher Wayne Hage in 1999.
