Hector MacDonald

Hector was born in 1857 on the Black Isle, Scotland. He joined the Scots gaurd in 1870, and participated in many battles throughout British history, eventually working his way up to serve as Major-General with the British forces in Ceylon in 1902.

At some point shortly after that, he was accused of being a homosexual and commited suicide in 1903. He was lauded as a hero, and had a J Scott Skinner tune written in his honor called Hector the Hero.
