Gyromagnetic ratio

Gyromagnetic ratio is the ratio of magnetic dipole moment to the angular momentum of an atomic nuclei. It arises in Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) in chemistry and in Magnetic Resonance Imaging, a medical imaging application of NMR, from the Larmor equation. The ratio, which is different for every nucleus, simply indicates the frequency with which a nucleus will precess around an externally applied magnetic field.
