The Group of Eight (Go8) is a lobby group for the tertiary institutions generally considered to be the most prestigious and research-intensive universities in Australia. Operating informally as a network of vice-chancellors since 1994 and formally incorporated in 1999, it is an attempted equivalent to the American Ivy League. All members of the group, barring UNSW and Monash are called sandstone universities (Australian universities established before 1950), and all of their primary campuses are based within an Australian capital city.

The group, in arguing for prioritisation of research funding and in lobbying for increased funding for the largest and most popular campuses, sometimes finds itself at odds with smaller, regional and rural unversities.
