Group 15 element

The group 15 elements(a.k.a. group VA) are elements in periodic table group 15 in the periodic table. The group is also known as the Nitrogen Group.

The elements are:

• nitrogen
• phosphorus
• arsenic
• antimony
• bismuth
• ununpentium (unconfirmed)

The collective name pnicogens (now also spelt pnictogens) is also sometimes used for elements of this group, with binary compounds being called pnictides: neither term is approved by IUPAC. Both spellings are said to derive from the Greek πνίγειν (pnigein), to choke or stifle, which is a property of nitrogen.
