Golden Eagle District

Golden Eagle District

The Golden Eagle District is a district of the San Gabriel Valley Council of the Boy Scouts of America (BSA). Located in the southeastern reigion of Los Angeles County's San Gabriel Valley, in California, the district is made up of the cities and communities of Rowland Heights, Valinda, West Covina, La Puente, Hacienda Heights, City of Industry and Walnut.

In 1939 the San Gabriel Valley Council was divided into districts, and the area was known as the Rancho District (named for Rancho La Puente) which changed many times over the years. Previous names were Lucky Baldwin in 1950, Lucky Trails in 1961, Los Conquistadors in 1969, Chaparral in 1970, Conquistadors in 1971, and Mountain View in 1982. The Mountain View District, the largest in the council, was divided at the San Bernardino Freeway (I-10) in 1984, and the territory south of the freeway became known as the Golden Eagle District.

In the Order of the Arrow, Kiowa Chapter is the Ta Tanka Lodge's chapter for the Golden Eagle District. Currently, The Kiowa Chapter plans and operates the annual Golden Eagle District Camporee.

In the first half of 2004, the Golden Eagle District became of the fastest going district in the nation. The current District Executive is Joe Dorsey.
