Gob
Gob can mean several things:
- Gob is a type of dessert food, composed of two flapjack-shaped cakes, generally butterscotch- or chocolate-flavored, and a layer of marzipan or icing between them, forming a sandwich.
- GOB is the nickname (pronounced like the old Testament "Job") of a character on the television show Arrested Development. It is an acronym for George Oscar Bluth II, the character played by Will Arnett.
- Gob is [Irish] Gaelic for "mouth", as in, "Shut your gob!". This is the origin of its synonymous British slang usage.
- Gob is British slang for "to spit" or for "phlegm that has been spat out", as in, "Don't you gob at me!"
- In the Bible, Gob was the location of two battles between the Israelites and the Philistines, mentioned in 2 Samuel 21:18–19.
- Gob is a common name for bituminous waste coal.
