Ghinwa Bhutto
'Ghinwa Bhutto is the Chairperson Pakistan People’s Party-Shaheed Bhutto (PPP-SB). The Lebanese widow of Murtaza Bhutto, she has staked her claim to her share of the Bhutto political legacy.
Estranged from her in-laws, Ghinva has vowed to bring her husband's killers to justice. Her sister-in-law, Benazir Bhutto is among those accused to have been part of the conspiracy to kill Murtaza.
Ghinwa has been actively courted by Benazir's rivals. In 1997, she stood for elections unsuccessfully against her mother-in-law and the then Pakistan People's Party President, Nusrat Bhutto.
In 2002, Pakistani election authorities rejected the candidacy of Ghinwa Bhutto, former prime minister Benazir Bhutto's estranged sister-in-law, from contesting October 10 polls. She was rejected on the grounds of not possessing the required minimum academic qualification of a university degree.
