Khilji/Ghalji/Ghilzai are the strongest Pashtun tribe in Afghanistan, occupying the north of Qandahar and extending eastwards towards the Suleman mountains. Some modern day historians trace the origin of the Gilzais to the Turkish Tribe of Khilji, but according to traditional historians Khilji and Lodhi were the offspring of Shah Hussain Ghouri of his first wife:Bibi Mato d/o Bait-Baba. Some of the Khels and subsections of Khiljis are Ali khel, Nasir khel and Hotak, the strogest section of the Khiljis are Suleman Khel.
