Getafe, Madrid

Getafe is a town in the southern metropolitan area of Madrid, Spain, 10 km from downtown. The town's population is 155,997 (INE December 2004). Getafe has an industrial and commercial center, military airport ("Cradle of Spanish aviation" says the slogan), and the town has good transportation links with Madrid by several highways (A-4, A-41, M-45) and the metropolitan Metro.

The town's soccer team plays in the Spanish 1st division (2004–2005). They play at the Coliseum Alfonso Perez (capacity 14000).
