Gerard Montgomery
Gerard Montgomery was one of a number of men named in the Daily Mail of 9 March 2005 as
- Members of the Belfast Brigade of the Provisional IRA;
- Responsible for the murder of Robert McCartney on 30 January 2005;
- A bodyguard to both Gerry Adams and Martin McGuinness;
The Mail also stated that both Montogomery and Jim McCormack shot and killed UFF members, and renowned killers of Catholics, Joe Bratty and Raymond Elder in the months running up to the 1994 ceasefire. These murders apparently 'made' them amongst Belfast Republicans, and enshrined their reputations as "hard men".
