Gemlik

Gemlik (Kios, Cius gr. ) is a harbour town by the Sea of Marmara in Turkey. Gemlik has a 2000-year history of civilization. It was first mentioned by Strabon, Homer and Aristoteles.

In the past, Gemlik was one of the richest towns in the Mediterranean, because of the ancient silk road which ended close to the place of the modern Container Port (Gemport).

The old harbour and the ancient city can't be seen today. There are only some cyclon walls and tunnels of the old Kios left.
