Gatjil Djerrkura

Gatjil Djerrkura (1950–2004) was an indigenous (aboriginal) spokesman and leader in Australia and served as Chairman of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Commission (ATSIC) from 1996 to 2000. He served as General Manager of the Yirrkala Business Enterprises in Nhulunbuy and as Chairman of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Commercial Development Corporation. He was awarded the Medal in the General Division of the Order of Australia (OAM) in 1984.
