Hexi Corridor

Hexi Corridor or Gansu Corridor (Chinese: 河西走廊,, pinyin: hé xī zǒu láng), is located in Gansu province in China and covers an area of about 110,000 km². As a part of the Silk Road in ancient China, It is the most important passage to Xinjiang and Central Asia, Hexi is really a narrow but long stretched passage lasting for about 900 km from steep Wushaolin hillside to Xinxinxia gorge at the border of Gansu and Xinjiang. There are many fertile oasis surrounded by vast expanse of Gobi desert, sandwiched in between snow-covered Qilian Mountains to the south and north mountain and deserts to the north.
