Galen B. Jackman

Army Major General Galen Jackman is most remembered for his role in escorting Nancy Reagan during the state funeral of Ronald Reagan, her husband, America's 40th president

Army Major General Galen Jackman is the commanding general of the Military District of Washington (MDW). He is also commander of the Joint Forces Headquarters-National Capital Region (JFHQ-NCR).

In the capacity as commanding general of the MDW, General Jackman is in charge of ceremonies around the nation's capital. As commander of the JFHQ-NCR, he's also in charge of the military in the region around the nation's capital, making sure that no act of terrorist violence hits the nation's capital.

However, he is most remembered for his role during the seven days in June 2004 that marked the death and state funeral of Ronald Reagan. During those seven days, he became a known figure when he escorted Nancy Reagan.
