Gaius Rubellius Blandus

Gaius Rubellius Blandus (d. 38) was a consul of ancient Rome, a grandson of Rubellius Blandus of Tibur. Blandus' family were from the Equestrian Class.

Blandus was a Moneyer in 4BC; Quaestor in 1AD?; Tribune in 6AD?; Praetor in 11AD?; Consul in 18AD and African Proconsul in 36AD. After 32AD, he married Claudia Julia, daughter of Livilla and Drusus Julius Caesar (Tacitus, Ann. 6. 27. 1). Their children included Gaius Rubellius Plautus, who was considered as a rival to Nero, and a daughter Rubellia Bussa. Juvenal (Sat. 8. 39) suggests another son, also named Gaius Rubellius Blandus.
