Gadarenes

Gadarenes (or some manuscripts Gergesenes; others Gerasenes) is the place Jesus arrived after calming the storm. In a region in Gadarenes, there were two demon-possessed men from the tombs that were so violent that no-one could pass that way.

Jesus passed that way and was confronted with two demon-possessed violent men from a distant. The demons begged Jesus that if they were to be driven out, they be sent to the herd of pigs. Then Jesus sent them to the herd of pigs and the whole herd of pigs rushed down the steep bank into the lake. Those tending the pigs ran off, went into the town and reported all this, including what had happened to the demon-possessed men. Then the whole town went out to meet Jesus. And when they saw him, they pleaded with him to leave their region.
