Fuel cell bus trial
- The Fuel Cell Bus Club is running a two-year trial using 33 specially built Mercedes-Benz Citaro buses and Ballard Power Systems fuel cells.
One of the cities in the Fuel Cell Bus Club's trial is Perth, Western Australia, and they have agreed to share information with the following two trials:
- Starting in 1998, there were two-year three-bus demonstration projects in Chicago and Vancouver. The six buses in those trials, which used an earlier version of Ballard fuel cell than the Fuel Cell Bus Club's trial and different Daimler bus bodies, carried more than 200,000 passengers and traveled over 118,000 kilometers (73,000 miles).
- In late 2004, a two-year three-bus trial in Oakland, California began. During this period, Sunline Transit (Palm Springs, California) will operate one bus and the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (Santa Clara, California) will operate 3 buses although some of these are from a different manufacturer.
