Friar Park

Friar Park is a Victorian neo-Gothic mansion built by the eccentric Sir Frank Crisp near Henley-on-Thames and purchased by the Beatle George Harrison as his home in 1970.

It has extensive gardens and water features.

A recording studio was installed in a guest suite and at one stage was better than that at EMI's Abbey Road Studios.

Harrison immortalised the building in his song Crackerbox Palace (the title referring to his nickname for the building). A further song, The ballad of Sir Frankie Crisp (Let it roll) was also inspired by the building's history.
