Fred Goodwin
Fred Goodwin (born 1959 and known by City financiers as Fred the Shred) is the current chief executive of the Royal Bank of Scotland group.
Before becoming chief executive of RBS, Goodwin worked as a partner in accountancy firm Touche Ross, and then as CEO at Clydesdale Bank and Yorkshire Bank. He joined RBS in 1998 as deputy CEO to now Chairman Sir George Mathewson. He rose to CEO in 2000. He obtained his moniker "the Shred" having gained a reputation for generating cost savings and effiencies following the acquisition of Natwest by RBS.
