Franc Serafin Metelko

Franc Serafin Metelko (1779-1860) was a Slovene priest who in 1825 proposed his version of the to-be alphabet called "metelčica". The alphabet was phonetic and too complicated as it contained a significant number of unneeded letters. Therefore it was officially banned in 1833.
