Fly killer
(Redirected from Fly killers)
These are machines that attract flying insects – houseflies, wasps, moths and mosquitoes – using ultra-violet light. The flying insects are then killed either using an electric shock or trapped on a glueboard from which they cannot escape.
Types of fly killers
Electric Grid or Fly Zapper
A high voltage is continuously passed along an electric grid. As soon as the fly comes into contact with the grid, it is given a fatal electric shock. Example
Glueboard Fly Killer
A very sticky card is situated in the fly killer machine. When the fly comes into contact with this glueboard, it remains stuck to it and ends its days there. Example
