FlyBuys
FlyBuys is an Australian loyalty card program administered by a joint venture company, Loyalty Pacific Pty Ltd established by major retailer Coles Myer, the National Australia Bank and the Shell Company of Australia. Additional participants have also joined the program and it has also been linked to the Coles Myer branded Source credit card recently introduced by GE Capital.
Shoppers receive points based on spending in participant's stores, or in the case of National Australia Bank, spending on the bank's credit cards. Additional bonus points are also provided for particular products or services on a promotional basis. In most cases points accrue at the rate of 2 for every $5 spent. Points have a life of 3 years. Members may then exchange these points for rewards which include flights, appliances, gift vouchers or credit card rebates. In order to obtain a rebate of $150 for example, a member requires 19,500 points, which corresponds to spending of nearly $50,000 assuming no bonus points are earned and a National Australia Bank credit card is not used.
According to FlyBuys, approximately 2 million awards have been made to date.
