Fjodor Khitruk
Fjodor Saveljevich Khitruk is one of the most influential animators and animation directors in Russian animation.
Born in Tver in 1917, he came to Moscow to study graphic design at the OGIS College for Applied Arts. He graduated in 1936 and started to work with Soyuzmultfilm in 1938 as an animator. From 1962 onwards, he works as a director. Already his first film, History of A Crime, is a success. Today, this film is seen as the beginng of a renaissance of Soviet animation after a two-decade-long live in the shadows of Socialist realism. During his long career, he was awarded innumerable awards by all major film festivals. Today, Fjodor Khitruk lives in Moscow.
