Mortadelo y Filemón

(Redirected from Filemón)

Mortadelo y Filemón (Mortadelo and Filemón) is a popular comic strip series in Spain, appearing for the first time in in 1958 for the children comic-book tiovivo by the hand of Francisco Ibañez. The series features Mortadelo the tall master of disguises and his boss, the shorter pudgier Filemón. Both are secret agents in the Tecnicos Investigacion Aeroterraquea (TIA, a spoof on CIA) which translates into Earth-Air Investigation Technicians.

Mortadelo and Filemon could be described as a pair of walking catastrophes, no matter what kind of mission they are assigned they always manage to get it wrong, the results are almost invariably extreme violence directed towards Filemon, who always receives all the punches.

A movie based on the series was made in 2003 in Spain.
