Traditional Fife

Fife is a unitary council region of Scotland situated between the Firth of Tay and the Firth of Forth. It was originally one of the Pictish kingdoms and is still known as the Kingdom of Fife. It is also a traditional county of Scotland, and a Lieutenancy Area.

From 1975 to 1996 Fife was divided into three districts – Dunfermline, Kirkcaldy and North-East Fife. Since 1996 the functions of these district councils have been exercised by Fife Council.
