The title of this article is incorrect because of technical limitations. The correct title is ffdshow.

ffdshow is an open source DirectShow and VFW codec for decoding/encoding many video and audio formats, including DivX and XviD movies using libavcodec, xvid and other open source libraries with a rich set of postprocessing filters.
