Fenno-Skan

Fenno-Skan is the designation of the high voltage direct current transmission between Dannebo in Sweden and Rauma in Finland, inaugarated in 1989. The 233 kilometer long Fenno Skan crosses in form of a 200 kilometers long submarine cable on the Finnish sea bottom. At the Swedish end the cable directly enters the static inverter plant, There is a 33 kilometre long overhead line section from the coast in Finland to the static inverter station in Rauna. The Fenno Skan is a monopolar system with a maximum transmission rate of 500 megawatts at a voltage of 400 kV.
